Collected 12th grade registration print-outs
Showed film excerpt from “Pearl Harbor” (attack and hospital scenes*); did assignment below:

Assignment: Watch carefully and write at least 10 good questions about the historical accuracy of the film details. For example, if you see civilians being strafed by the enemy planes, you might ask, “Did they really shoot at fleeing civilians?” You could ask about dialog, for example, during the airfield scenes, one of the guys says, “P-40s can’t outrun Zeros, so don’t even try” – you could quote and ask whether that was really true.  If you are interested in the filming of the movie, you could ask, “Did they really find Zeros (the Japanese planes) and fly them or was most of the film done with CGI?”  You may write more than 10 questions, but must do at least 10 good ones.

Extra Credit Homework (due Tuesday 2-21-12) (worth up to 30 points, maybe more if done very well):

WWII Film Historical Accuracy Extra Credit:
1. Pick the 3 questions that most interest you and research their accuracy.
2. Write about your findings and type them up in your own words (about a paragraph per question) in a Word document.
3. Put your name and period number on the document. Title the document with your Last name and first name.
4. Be sure to get the links (at least two per question) to the websites you consulted and paste them into your document as references.
5. When you have answered the questions you have chosen, email the document to me.  My email address is: huskyhistory@gmail.com.

Note: You may now do this assignment for Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers as well.

*Click the links to watch the scenes on your own.  Each scene is about 9 minutes long.
